May Newsletter

Another month down and it's been a busy one again for team Ella&Jade!

Read on for some BREAKING NEWS, then sit back and let us introduce you to this year's Winter Trends, all wrapped up with a chat with our newest Master Colour Expert, Maddi!

BREAKING NEWS ...or rather, heart-breaking news

After almost 7 years in Brisbane and with ELLA&JADE William has made the decision to move back to Sydney where his Australian journey began almost 10 years ago.

Throughout his 7 years William has firmly cemented himself as one of our industry’s greats, and I am forever proud of everything that we have achieved together in this time.

ELLA&JADE would not be what it is today without William’s support, passion, energy and love and we couldn’t have done these years without you ❤️
Whilst he will be sorely missed amongst our team and clients, we can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings.

Here is a pic of where it all started almost 7 years ago, we had no idea what was to follow! ❤️
William’s last day will be May 28th, if you would like an appointment with him before this time please contact our Woolloongabba salon on 0427 020 929

If you have an appointment after this time, William will be in contact with you during the coming weeks.

Trend Release!
By Anna McNamara

Say goodbye to lobbed, one length haircuts...
And say hello to 90’s layers & blowouts full of movement and texture!

We can all give thanks to Rachel Green (for those FRIENDS fans out there) for being the timeless cool-girl that we all look to for fashion advice.

Well go ahead and add those 90’s claw clips back into your accessory draw, because it’s all about that “I woke up like this” look (rather than that “no strand out of place” look I know y’all did back in your early school days-- oh wait, maybe that was just a me thing!)

Those who know me well know that I LOVE a bob!
But don’t stress, I’m not rocking back and forth in a corner hating on all these layers (I promise I love them too) because that classic bob is still here to stay!

She's just adding a bit more spice with just a hint of a 90’s bang!

We will see bob lengths sit just above the shoulders but below the jawline, and fringes that curtain and fall softly to add a little bit of texture.

Winter is also the perfect time to play around with the fringe area, so if you're feeling a little adventurous then why not give it a go to change up your usual haircut or bob!

From our 2022 campaign, We are ELLA&JADE

As far as hair colour goes we will see full colour be a staple this season; We are seeing a lot less “lived in” and a lot more 'colour'. As the world slowly goes back to normal we have less need for lower maintenance as those salon visits become a little more regular, we are welcoming highlights that melt their way back up to the root area and all over colours that shift that natural 'rooty' look.

With a quick flashback to those mahogany box-dye days, (cringe-- wait, just me again?) we are also seeing those rich mahogany tones making their comeback but in a much more sophisticated way. We can see these tones not just in our deeper brunettes to add extra sparkle but also in our blondes to give us those golden mahogany hues to keep us all warm this winter. Think of these tones as the new rose gold!

P.S. Wella have just brought out a few extra colour choices in these exact shades so be sure to ask about them at your next visit!

Love a multi tasking spray - Even better one that changes colour!
Shake before use and see it change to a sparkly purple!

This cold pressed watermelon wave spray is composed of four main ingredients: Watermelon seed oil for hydration and antioxidants, jackfruit extract to texturise and strengthen hair and rich in vitamin A. Turmeric root gives shine and colour protection against environmental factors as well as UV damage, with red algae extract for vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

Great for wavy to curly hair types looking to accentuate their natural texture and for UV protection on those sunny days out.

To use, spray in towel dried hair and leave to air-dry or diffuse. So easy!
Hot tip! Can also be blow-dried in and/or applied after a style to give texture.

Now go make waves and block those rays!

 Team Member Spotlight

This month we're catching up with our new
Master Colour Expert!

If you're a looong-time client with us, you may have had the pleasure of walking alongside Maddi for her entire hair-dressing journey!
With 6 years under her belt at Ella&Jade, she has the invaluable experience of having been our very first entirely Ella&Jade produced hair expert!

Maddison Power
Senior Stylist, Hair Extension Specialist, Master Colour Expert

If you don’t already know me, I’m Maddi, and I’ve been working here at E&J for the past 6 years.

I like to refer to myself as the Algester Head Girl since I’ve been here a hot minute!
I've been so fortunate to have had this many great experiences through my career so far, such as finalising for Apprentice of the Year in 2018 with Hair Expo, working backstage on a collection with the salon for the Next Gen Gala in 2019, and just recently completing and receiving my Master Colour Expert Degree.
I adore how much creative freedom this industry presents and how much opportunity I have to continue to grow as a stylist; There’s always something to learn and room to grow, and it makes me so delighted that I’m able to do it all within a salon that I care so much about!

What first attracted you to Hairdressing and what made you choose Ella&Jade in particular for your journey?
I loved that hairdressing allowed me to make people fall in love with how they look over and over again, and make them feel like the best versions of themselves. I chose Ella&Jade because I was a client before actually starting so I was already obsessed with Alannah and the salon environment! When I saw they were offering an apprentice position, I thought it was a match made in heaven!

What do you most love about the industry?
I love the versatility of the industry! Everyone I attend to is so individual and walks different paths in life, so I love that each day I’m always doing and learning something different. I also love all the opportunities and the freedoms the industry has to present as I can always continue to grow!

What's been the best part of being with Ella&Jade for this journey?

I think the best part of being with Ella&Jade for my journey is being surrounded by people who want what's best for not only themselves but also for one another, and the constant support and endless amount of love and unity we all have for one another.

Future plans?
I honestly haven’t thought too far ahead but hopefully I'll be looking at doing another photo shoot; Until then, I’m just loving putting my Master Colour Expert degree to work!

What do you get up to on your days off?
I loooooove to eat good food, go to the beach-- sleep is also another personal favourite! But usually just be in the moment surrounded by my loved ones.

Career highlight?
There's so many to choose from, but some would definitely be: Finalising for Apprentice of the Year in 2018 at Hair Expo and presenting one of my looks on stage; Working backstage for Next Gen Gala and Rising Stars showcase; Attending master classes and seminars with Industry legends like Eugene Souleiman, Lyndal Salmon, Chrissy Zemura and Jack Morton; And can't forget the cherry on top - Master Colour Expert!
