More About Seb
Seb entered hairdressing after searching for a creative career that felt meaningful and aligned. Now a first-year apprentice, they’re especially passionate about genderless haircuts and working across all hair types and textures. Having experienced firsthand how transformative the right salon environment can be, Seb is driven to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen and confident. For them, hairdressing is about expression, identity, and helping people feel at home in their own reflection.
I was searching for a career change...something that felt creative, inspiring and rewarding. A friend suggested hairdressing, and honestly, I haven't looked back since. My entire career suddenly clicked into place and I knew that this was something I wanted to do. I'm particularly passionate about creating genderless haircuts across all hair types and textures, so that will be my main focus as I progress through my apprenticeship.
I've personally had a lot of salon trauma, which stopped me from going back to a hair salon for years. I basically accepted that I would have 'bad hair'. Finally being able to walk out of a salon feeling happy and actually liking my hair was life-changing; which probably sounds dramatic, but those with difficult hair will get it. I was like "ok....I want to help people feel this good. I want to help people reflect what they feel on the inside, outside." That's what I love about hairdressing - the chance to help someone discover their confidence and help them feel their best. Additionally, as a queer person, salon spaces often feel pretty intimidating and gendered. Providing a safe space for community is always a priority for me.
I actually began as a client, and the entire experience was so good that it opened my eyes to what hairdressing could (and should) be. I guess you could call me a true convert!
I love bouldering, and I'm a sucker for a good thrift store. I also really enjoy cooking, reading, gaming, fashion and design, anything nature-related, esoteric studies, art, hanging out with my rescue greyhound....I'm kind of a nerdy homebody, in all honesty!
