I was searching for a career change...something that felt creative, inspiring and rewarding. A friend suggested hairdressing, and honestly, I haven't looked back since. My entire career suddenly clicked into place and I knew that this was something I wanted to do. I'm particularly passionate about creating genderless haircuts across all hair types and textures, so that will be my main focus as I progress through my apprenticeship.

I've personally had a lot of salon trauma, which stopped me from going back to a hair salon for years. I basically accepted that I would have 'bad hair'. Finally being able to walk out of a salon feeling happy and actually liking my hair was life-changing; which probably sounds dramatic, but those with difficult hair will get it. I was like "ok....I want to help people feel this good. I want to help people reflect what they feel on the inside, outside." That's what I love about hairdressing - the chance to help someone discover their confidence and help them feel their best. Additionally, as a queer person, salon spaces often feel pretty intimidating and gendered. Providing a safe space for community is always a priority for me.

I actually began as a client, and the entire experience was so good that it opened my eyes to what hairdressing could (and should) be. I guess you could call me a true convert!

I love bouldering, and I'm a sucker for a good thrift store. I also really enjoy cooking, reading, gaming, fashion and design, anything nature-related, esoteric studies, art, hanging out with my rescue greyhound....I'm kind of a nerdy homebody, in all honesty!
